A list of resources for wildlife rehabbers and animal rescue organizations.
As a small nonprofit, we know as well as anyone that help is hard to find. I wanted to share some of the resources we’ve come across to make it easier for other organizations to access support.
I’ve separated resources by whether or not they require a 501c3 or if they are available to individual licensed wildlife rehabilitators as well.
For licensed wildlife rehabbers (No 501c3 needed):
CARA: Crafters and Artisans for Rescued Animals – This organization provides beautiful handmade support items for animal rescue work. We’ve received hanging nests, pouches, hammocks, cubes, and various other support items that are beautifully made. These items are made throughout the year with several organizations chosen to receive each month. Open to domestic rescue work as well.
Baby Warm – This organization facilitates crowdfunding to help rescue workers fundraise for incubators.
Relief Crafters of America – This organization sends hand crafted care items to support both animals and humans in need of some extra love. Items can include beds, blankets, cuddle cups, pouches and more.
Cuddle Coats – This organization takes donations of old fashion fur items and sends them out to wildlife rehabbers to be used as comfort items for babies. I find the fur to be especially helpful with getting baby bunnies comforted and willing to nurse!
For 501c3 Organizations:
Walmart Spark Good – Walmart offers local grants from individual stores and these have been a great funding source for us, as you can apply for up to 25 throughout the year with very easy approvals and applications. Each grant can be between $250-$5000. The approval process for joining Spark Good is through deed can take a bit, but once your organization is approved it’s an amazing resource.
Dream Host – Dream Host offers free website hosting for nonprofits! This has been a valuable resource for me, as this website is hosted cost free through Dream Host.
Cabana for Good – Offers 10 free subscriptions to their mental health support platform for qualified nonprofits. Animal rescue work can really have take a toll on your mental health, this is a great opportunity to make sure you and your volunteers are able to access support.
Canva Pro – Canva offers a Pro level subscription for nonprofit organizations, offering access to all of their templates and stock art. This has been a huge help with our educational material, merch design, as well as social media posts.
Chewy Gives Back – This is Chewy’s support platform. It is designed for domestic rescues and shelters, but is available for wildlife organizations as well. It allows you to create a wish list and suggests it to local shoppers. I have received gift card donations that have been a huge help, as well as have had local animal lovers/supporters discover our organization through their check out suggestions.
Maggie’s Fund – Maggie’s Fund offers grants and support to animal rescue organizations. In addition to the grants offered, there is an amazing forum which has a wealth of information and support for things like fundraising, events, and just rescue work in general.
Google for Nonprofits – Google offers workspace free for nonprofits, as well as a grant for $10,000 in google ad credits which is an amazing opportunity for exposure.
Tech Soup – Tech Soup offers discounted pricing for electronic and software technology for nonprofits.
